A cabochon is a gemstone which has been shaped and polished as opposed to facetted. The resulting form is usually a convex top with a flat bottom. They come in many shapes. The most common are ovals, tear drops, and hearts.
Cabochons are one of my favorite features on a necklace. They’re classy, delicate, and, at the same time, make a powerful statement.
On some of these pieces you’ll notice I have enhanced the cabochon. First, I affix a microsuede to the back of the pendant. Then, I sew seed beads along the outside of the cabochon to outline and accentuate the stone.
